Combining 23.98 footage with 60i footage on same timeline?

I have a project, 2/3 of which is on an SD 23.976 timeline. The final 1/3 is on a HD/60i timeline. I don't mine bringing the HD resolution down to SD. But I obviously need to get the framerates to be the same for both part of the project. I believe I'll get the best result by converting the 23.976 to 29.97 and then bringing it into the 60i timeline. But I'm not sure what method I should use to accomplish this? I cannot easily add a Timewarp "insert pulldown" because the project is already edited, and Timewarp can't be added on top. Unless I step into every segment and add the Timewarp effect?

This is trickier than I thought it would be. It's a question that comes up often, and yet I've had a heck of a time finding solid answers online. I think I'm almost there though. No one has ventured an answer either. But...I found out a lot in my hunting and pecking for solutions.

I need to "INSERT PULLDOWN" into my 23.98 sequence to convert it to a 29.97 sequence. Avid has a handy Timewarp: Insert Pulldown template, but it doesn't exist in 23.98 projects apparently (isn't that exactly where you'd NEED an insert pulldown effect?!). Obviously some framrate engineering I do not understand.

So my solution: make a digital cut of the sequence. When Avid prints the 23.976 timeline to tape it has to add pulldown. Ta da! Finally dawned on me today that it might be the only solution. I re-import that digital cut into a 30i Avid project and I'm done. Finally.
