Columbo

IThe only episodes I would avoid watching are the later seasons when they tried to revive it in the 80's.

I absolutely agree. The revived series was a bad idea in the first place and then poorly executed after that. Falk was good, but could not overcome the bad writing and directing. Watch the originals or don't watch at all. When you run out of those, jump over to Rockford.

I was scarily young when the episode with subliminal cuts was aired in the UK, and I was fascinated by it once I discovered it was a real technique and banned! The Baddie - Robert Culp like some others made loads of reappearances - which is very strange for a popular drama.

I think he hugs Mannix walking up, but not sure...

Jerry: I don't want to be Murphy anymore; do I still have to be Murphy?

George: Yes, you have to be Murphy.

Jerry: It makes no sense now, me being Murphy.

George: You're Murphy!

Jerry: I'm Seinfeld!

George: You're Murphy!! Look, let's just jump out of the car.

Jerry: We're doing sixty miles an hour!

George: So we jump and roll, you won't get hurt.

Jerry: Who are you, Mannix?

What about the villains??? The murderers???

I have to say my vote goes to Patrick McGoohan.

Him or Jack Cassidy (who was on a couple times). Columbo is a great show, I continue to rewatch the episodes. Leonard Nimoy's episode is another really great guest villian.

I saw Murder by Death as a Sunday TV movie thing really young and fell in love with Peter Falk immediately. Clue is a really great pairing with that one.

I gotta say, although stylistically obviously very different, the modern equivalent series show Monk is really excellent as well. Love love love Tony Shalhoub (him as Ben Geisler in Barton Fink jfc)

I like the episodes with Jack Cassidy (especially), also Robert Culp, but the wiles of Faye Dunaway earned her an Emmy in, “It’s All In The Game.” Columbo never truly broke her, she remained unflappable as he probed deeper, she gave herself up in a bargain which no other villain was ever able to achieve, yet you suffered with her for the price she paid for giving up the truth. There was no gotcha ending, she remained intellectually masterful and equal to the Lieutenant as no other villain. The production values in this episode were the best ever, as well.
