Colors Changing on DVD Output

Hey, I shot something recently on my HVX and it has very moody dark colors when I play it on the camera, on the computer or straight from the computer to my HDTV...when I edit it and put it to DVD (I export it as DVCPro HD 720p 24p into DVD studio pro) the colors look the same on the quicktime file, but suddenly look much brighter on my TV (I'm talking about my SD TV - not my HDTV)...normally I would say this is a difference between HD and SD, but the change is SOOO huge - I shot a project last year and the color was almost the same on the HD vs SD DVD...am I doing something wrong with the output? Any suggestions...it looks really washed out and awful on DVD...Like I said, I'm doing the output the same way as I did before with no problems?...anyone?

Thanks,
Mark.

Well, that's a $400 piece of software - it looks nice, but I don't really think I would need to spend that to fix this problem. As I said, I've done this before and had no problem - perhaps I should try compressor...but there's the problem, I know nothing of how to use compressor (I.E. I always just export the DVCPro HD file and let DVD SP convert it to MPEG-2 for me)...does anyone have any preferred settings over the Compressor standards for DVCPro HD footage from the HVX?

Thanks,
Mark.

PS - I hope that didn't sound rude, thank you for the advice on BitVice, it's just really expensive for the type of projects I do.

Compressor has gamma adjustments under the Filters tab when setting up a custom preset for encoding to m2v.

Going straight to DVDSP doesn't permit any flexibility and doesn't permit you to encode to Dolby2/ac3 audio. This flexibility is essential when encode to author. The whole process is both art and science and requires a thorough understanding of the tools you can use.

Compressor is an essential and versatile tool. I urge that you look at its capabilities and also its treatment of audio when authoring DVDs.

Yeah, I've started to look around at the compressor settings, but have run into a new problem...which is that compressor 3.0.2 won't work (I have leopard)...I submit a new batch just fine, but in the batch monitor it shows absolutely no progress and just hangs for WAY past how long it should take (I tried to convert an .aiff to .aac just as a test which should take hardly any time at all and it hung for over 20 minutes before I canceled it)...so now I'm looking on the web for an answer to this, anyone else have this problem?

Thanks,
Mark.

Mark:

Love to help, but you have to provide specifics on your computer and OS, etc.

I run Compressor fine on a MacPro with Leopard 10.5.1.

I can't see your workflow or hardware from here.
