FS7: Color temp setting?

on FS700 one can click the side button and enter color temp
is there such a thing on FS7?
I see paint menu, but seems like I can't modify the menu

Nope. In custom mode there is the A & B presets using the manual WB button on the front left of the body. You can enter a custom white in the paint menu under white...you can select from 2k-10k I think. It's better to use manual white in my experience because it corrects for tint as well.

In Cine EI you only have three presets - 3200, 4700, 5600. They are automatically mapped to the dial.

I don't think that's right. I need to double-check my camera to verify - but 99% sure you can dial in - or set a WB temp in custom mode on the preset switch ( but not on A or B) by using the paint menu. You can then alter R & B gain value's or offset white for A & B settings in the paint menu as well. More than one click - but it can be done. (this was part of the early "magenta issue" some users were experiencing)
Also - Cine EI Kelvin values are actually 3200, 4300 & 5500.

your both right but just to be absolutely clear: go to the presets in the menu and you can set a Kelvin value there. You can also do it for the A & B settings but they will give you errors on the Green Magenta axis . If you know what you're doing you can set a correction on the G-M axis but its not at all obvious what those offsets should be and they aren't linear. The Preset menu however has been corrected so leaving the G-M axis at 0 will leave your Kelvin settings correct. BTW - sorry I can't remember what that G-M axis menu setting is called - its not "G-M" -something obscure and confusing instead. I'll look it up tomorrow .

By the way if you hit the auto white button for A or B , those menu #'s will automatically reset for both the Kelvin and G-M axis of your WB target , so observing that can teach you how those settings work. After hitting the auto white button, you could alter your white balance by changing the menu #'s if you're gutsy.

The thing to understand is that the G-M axis on the Preset works differently than it does on A & B.

Also that G-M axis is not the same as the phase adjustment on the Matrix menu. It is more a true adjustment for green & magenta.

Is that clear ?

As a side note (yeah I know - pros don't care for this) - the FS7 can work extremely well in ATW mode. When shooting long uninterrupted takes while moving between different light characteristics places (like going indoors and back outdoors, etc.), ATW can be use safely as it acts very accurately and in an unobtrusive way.
