VIEW AND RATE COLD CALLS NOW AT DELTA FLY-IN MOVIES

Give us some DVXuser love if you can please. Delta couldn’t have made it easier to view and rate the films. It’s one page
with 5 stars waiting to be filled in next to the film, and you don’t have to register, sign on to anything, or have 50 posts :)

DETAILS:

DVXuser written and mod produced, shot, and directed, our Twilight Fest entry
"Cold Calls” is one of 5 finalists
picked from all of the applicants for the
2009 TRIBECA FILM FESTIIVAL. It’s currently screening online and in
the sky at
DELTA FLY-IN MOVIES, where audience ratings decide who will win the grand prize – a screening
spot at Tribeca.
(voting ends 4/12/2009)

"We would be proud to select each of these works for the Tribeca Film Festival but are excited to engage our audiences with
this unique opportunity to play a role in shaping our program." - Maggie Kim, Shorts Programmer for Tribeca Film Festival

(The Delta cut is a new version, which features more of the detective scene with DJ and Blanchard, BTW.)

Fun trailer with real movie guy v.o.

Here's a pretty fun old school type trailer I put together to put on youtube and embed on myspace / facebook, etc. specifically for the Delta Contest.

NOTE: THIS IS NOT WHAT YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO VIEW/RATE FOR TRIBECA - THIS IS FOR FUN / VIRAL BUZZZZZZ

UPDATE 4/3/09

Friend I met in Philly sent me this, taken on her return trip to L.A.

UPDATE 3/27/09

In Philly this weekend with A LITTLE MOUTH TO FEED
http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?t=153465&page=14

Had the following postcard made up for Cold Calls to promote both films while in Philly.

To step aside from the blatant self promotion for a moment to move to promotion of others:

This space is a shout out for Mark Harris's sweet TimeFest entry "R.P.D.M." now at SLAMDANCE ANARCHY ONLINE

He's in a similar contest as us but for Slamdance. If they win their heat this month they'll be Offcial Selections for Slamdance in a block of shorts comprised of each month's winners!

GOOD LUCK R.P.D.M.

Thanks guys. LMTF is at Philly Cinefest at the end of the month - dealing with that, this and moving has left me swamped. Looking forward to coming up for air over the weekend and really getting into Loss Fest in serious way.

.... It was awesome working on the film and it would be even cooler if it made it to the Tribeca Film Festival.
Definitely. We gotta get it there. You were a big help on the film and it would be cool to enjoy it with you there. The fest flies me out and treats me like an official participant whether I win the contest or not - meaning I get a pass / to go to all the seminars. The big difference is getting flown out and put up which normal shorts in the fest don't get, but we do because there are only 5 shorts in this contest and Delta is underwriting it all.

BUT - the animated short of the goofy/lovable bulldog trying to get adopted on the day he's scheduled to be put down at the shelter would be tough to beat even if it wasn't well done, which it is. Almost not fair they let that one in :)

Another 5 stars.

I agree it was odd to include an animation in the mix unless it was the only animation entered and it just happened to fall into your slot.

At any rate, no denying your 5 stars.

Haha. thanks Gord. I'm kidding about the animation not being fair. I just think that one is gonna be tough to beat. They made a great short and deserve to have some exposure for it.

You know they say never work with kids or animals, on the production end we tend to think because you'll lose your day, but really it comes from actors because as an actor they'll upstage you. So that short is just so cute / loveable, that's what I'm kidding about it not being fair. Plus it's well done. So it may be the dragonslayer of the group :)

I'm psyched just to be included & I'll have some kind of Tribeca laurel irregardless. Plus they fly out all the finalists - 4 of us to get rejected - and give us festival passes etc.

I was just wondering, is this the final round then? I'm not sure how some of these festivals work.
//edit: I see these are indeed the finalists. Sorry about that.

That Amzing Bob does have an incredible voice.

Thanks guys.

I know some have seen this before but seems like this film is finding a whole new audience on DVXuser after Twilight Fest, which is very cool.

This is the only round actually. The 5 "Finalists" were selected from the 3 to 4 thousand short films that were submitted to Tribeca by the Tribeca programmers. But rather than getting straight into Tribeca, they put us 5 through the Delta gauntlet 1st.

The press release talks about how they had to pick 5 films that they would gladly screen at the festival. The trade of for the fact that you have an 80% chance of not getting screened at the festival is supposed to be the unique exposure opportunity to a potential audience of 80 thousand flying Delta Airlines and on their website.
