I bought this the other day and I like it! haven't used it much but the coiled idea is a good one. It's 2' long and the coil is firm and streaches out to about 3'. My only worry is if I stretch it to much it could pull out of the device. More tests needs to be done. I hate having cables wrapped around the camera especially if you have more than one. You can buy them from Black Box for $10.

Is the BlackBox cable 1' when retracted ?
I tried difference options for the NInja2; 1,5' is too small. 3 feet is too long.
The ideal is 2' but hard to find.
The BlackBox seems to be perfect. Does it fit when the Ninja is mounted on the top handle ?

I like those super thin cables as well. I have a nice long 16' one for my client monitor. So nice not having the producer on top of you when shooting.

The cable is actually closer to 2' and streches out to about 3' Sorry about that.

What the heck, Erik! I was cursing out my hdmi cable today, and wondering why they don't make curled ones like this. Awesome post. Thanks for sharing! I'll have to pick one up asap.

HAHA! Now if they can make a super thin coiled HDMI cable. That would be perfect!

Haha, testify!

...in two flavors. One normal ends, and one with L bracketed mini hdmi, and hdmi almost starts to seem like a legitimate production tool!

I prefer the apple HDMI, just because its so easy to pickup from any store

tired of ordering things online when you need it in hurry

Thank you greatly for this post. I spent hours awhile back and couldn't find a moderately cheap coiled HDMI cable. This is great.

I hate HDMI cables. I use them (Hyperthin) but I hate 'em and the damn sockets tooo! Nothng I buy in the future will be HDMI only SDI. End of rant..

What's the benefit of a thin hdmi cable?

I find them easier to manage, wrapping and tying them around things like handles. Basically they let me slim down the cabling on a camera setup, without thicker cables sticking out and getting in the way.
