Closed Captioning On BETA?

I have to transfer a video to BETA and a requirement of FUSE (Where the label is sending the video) is to have the BETA closed captioned.

Another video I did and sent to Much Music was accepted on BETA even though they asked for Closed Captioning...so I'm not sure what to do here.

How would I do this in a BETA transfer?

Thanks ya'll!

CC is actually part of the picture signal in the analog video world. In NTSC it's encoded on line 21 of the picture, which is at the top of the frame in the overscan area.
I belive that most digital formats have absoloutly no problem passing this, just as they pass VITC (Vertical Interval Time Code)

What is your source? and is it allready Captioned?

If it is allready captioned on line 21, there should be no problem and you can just run a regular dub and CC will go with it. (that's the beauty of the system, if the picture goes through, CC normally will.

If in doubt, plug the analog output of your source deck (Eg: MiniDV camera) into a TV, roolt eh footage and see if the TV finds the CC, if it does, jsut plug on into your BETA deck and hit Rec.

If you do not have CC encoded, then you will need to find software and or harware to do it (or an 3rd party to do if for you.)

Over here in Europe we dont' have the same line21 closed captions, but rather a similar meathod is used to stream a few hundered pages of text and basic graphical data in the form of "teletext" (also known as ceefax) pages. You punch in a number and wait for the page to be sent, (normally about every 15seconds to complete a cycle of all the pages) your TV then grabs that page and displays it for you to read.
The system is enirly analog and has been in use for YEARS. It is by for one of the most inovative uses ot technology in the video world in my oppinion.
