CLIPS FROM HOMEMADE HIGH DEF CAMERA

Re: CLIPS FROM HOMEMADE HIGH DEF CAMERA

I've been following the progress the guys over at Dvinfo.net have been making.

Am I to understand that there are 3 or 4 different home brewed versions of uncompressed HD cameras out there?  I know one of them talked about bringing theirs to market (they shot the footage of the woman w/ the bow and arrows).

I'm scouring all over dvinfo.net but haven't seen anything that would insinuate any of this stuff coming to market anytime soon.  Still a lot of technical discussion and experimentation (Obin's footage looks *INCREDIBLE*).

I suspect that the big guys will move on the 35mm size multiple chip cameras with approx 12mp but darn, this is great!  I do wonder though... how will these companies respond?  In any case big changes in the realm of cinema are just around the corner :)[/quote]

Re: CLIPS FROM HOMEMADE HIGH DEF CAMERA

..the cinealta 950 does output 4:4:4 uncompressed.. the varicam does not.

Re: CLIPS FROM HOMEMADE HIGH DEF CAMERA

thanks iamloser! I believe the cinealta is also only interlaced, correct?

Re: CLIPS FROM HOMEMADE HIGH DEF CAMERA

No, the CineAlta shoots 24PsF and 25PsF, and also 30P. It's the camera Lucas used on Star Wars Episode II, and Rodriguez used for Spy Kids II and III, and Once Upon A Time In Mexico, etc.
