Cleaning protective glass?

Any idea how we can clean the protective glass in front of the sensor? Cloth or brush? Solvent?

Yeah, of course. But what if?

If we manage to get grease or fingerprint, or even just water on it, are we screwed? Just want to prepare myself in case it actually happends.

There's actually a device called a sensor cleaner. It's got a magnifying element and special lights so you can get close to it and clean it. Look under DSLR stuff to find out more. I've never personally used one.

"Sensor Cleaning" doesn't refer to cleaning the actual sensor since most every camera has an optical low pass filter over the actual sensor element. "Sensor Cleaning" refers to cleaning whatever is the outside surface that you see when you take the lens off the camera. This outer surface is what gets dust and other contaminants on it. The web site above has recommendations on cleaning the surface visible when the lens is removed.

As a side note, because the AF100 also has ND filters built in, I have often wondered how the filters themselves should be cleaned. The outer surface is easy. Just rotate the filter into place and clean, but what about the inner surface that faces the sensor. I suppose if it ever gets contaminated, then it needs to be sent to Panasonic. I do not have access to an AF100 camera, but it would be interesting to know if the ND filters can be unscrewed from the carousel that hold them so they can be cleaned outside the camera.

The ND filters are behind a protective piece of glass (or is this the OLPF?). There is no chance of dust getting on the ND filters.

There's protective glass, then the ND filters, then the OLPF, then the sensor. So no, what you are cleaning is the protective glass, not the OLPF or the ND filters or the sensor.

So... what is the best way to clean that protective piece of glass? kim wipes and lens cleaner...? Any sure answer about it...? Thanks.
