Cleaning Lens

OK it was a few years ago but a Pro camera operator told me only to use (gently) a lens blower/brush as mentioned above then a Selvyt cloth. These are used by jewellers apparently because of their high quality fibres. Also, they are not impregnated with silicon or anything else. Fairly cheap on Ebay last time I looked BUT I was also told to only ever wash these with mild soap flakes then rinse lots of times afterwards.

Never had a problem with this combination.

true linen cloth napkins work beautifully as well.
no water or cleaning solution needed.
doesn't scratch like cotton.
absorbs oils and moisture, which blowing on it won't do (salt water spray, cooking grease droplets, etc).
i always keep one in the camera bag, but if you just have a bit of dust, the air blowing methods are best.
