Terrible, campy movie. It is well known that some of Greek Mithology stories don't translate very well to the big screen or to today's storytelling standards, but the plot goes from ridiculous to laughable. I can only describe this as the Macdonalds equivalent for the epic movie genre.
Sam Worthington's performance and the Cloverfiel...uops Kraken deserve the rise to Macdonalds Fast Food status. I could definitely give it a lower fast food analogy![]()
First, for most of its historical, or, shall I say, Mythological accuracy, it is well known that it is important to leave the outdated facts in order to make this story more believable. .
Speaking about err.. "historical" or Mythological accuracy, what is this title all about anyway (and I´m asking myself since 1981) ?
The Titans were a race of powerful deities, descendants of Gaia and Uranus, that ruled during the legendary Golden Age. The twelve Titans were Oceanus, Hyperion, Coeus, Cronus, Crius and Iapetus, Mnemosyne, Tethys, Theia, Phoebe, Rhea and Themis.
So where are the Titans in that flick? Nope, nil, zip, zero Titans at all.
Why is it then called COTT? Only Harryhausen knows.
Then there is Sam Worthington looks like (always) straight out of a Marines recruiting clip. He plays something that is half human, half something else (semi god) and falls in love with a chick from the other side.
Isn't that something he did recently in an other film?
And then we have the Kraken. How lame is that? Adding a few tentacles to a Cave Troll/Rancor knock off is the best idea they came up with? Wow, so much fresh ideas.
And oh, yeah - it´s 3D. Not real 3D (which is actually stereoscopy and only a flat simulation of human three dimensional vision) no, its only fake 3D. They should call it "Two and a half D" but that would not make people spend so much on it. :violin:
I guess that flick will be a short succsess and than sink back into oblivion like the Kraken into the sea.

I'd love to hear what James Cameron has to say about Titan's botched 3D transfer.
...but unfortunately without being painfully turned to stone, first.
How would you compare Clash to other recent sword and sandals films like Troy or 300? I'd doubt it is as good as 300, but if it is comparable to Troy then I'd feel like I'm not walking into another Transformers 2 disappointment of epic proportions.
Yes, I'm one of those oddballs that actually liked Troy.
Sometimes the big dumb summer fast food films can be fun though. Independence Day comes to mind. Of course, I don't see why Hollywood can't churn out more quality summer tent pole flicks like Jurassic Park or Gladiator on a more consistent basis. Is it the suits that run the studios being too conservative and hampering the writers and directors, or are the writers to blame for shi* scripts? Maybe the studios should start looking at original spec scripts for big summer films, because it seems the remakes and adaptations they continually make for the summer slate aren't cutting it.
The problem with this film is that the script is all over the place, it is poorly written, with bad character development, bad plot development and many plot holes, it presents itself as an Epic and tries too hard to feel like one, which is bad.
An interesting article about how this film was drastically rewritten in the editing process, which explains why it feels all over the place. I'm not bothering to see this one, maybe on cable--
