Clash of the Titans

^^^ That is not a Kraken. That is a Rancor with tentacles and an attitude problem.

I don't know. The trailer for the new COTT ran before Avatar at the screening I took my Mom to. I was embarrassed for my industry.

I think the new Clash of the Titans could be fun. Judging from the trailers, it certainly looks better than the A-Team.

Also, it comes out in March, which is nice timing for anyone also planning on picking up the PS3 game God of War III.

Ugh...Not fond of the thinking here. "How do you make pegasus cool?...By making him black!"...Why not add racing stripes and flames on the side while you're at it?

Also not liking many of these clips. Feels like, well, what I thought a Louis Leterrier directed Clash would feel like--

None of this makes any sense without Harry Hamlin's cleft chin, which as I recall got a Best Supporting Actor nod.

LOL, I think the absolute LAST way I would attack a 50 foot scorpion would be to run right at it head on. Hell, I don't even think I would attack a normal sized scorpion that way.

So far though, I'm giving them credit for not giving up medusa too much yet. I hope it's because she is played by some super-awesome cameo like Sigorney Weaver or something, and she looks scary as all hell.

BTW Batutta, that site is awesome, don't even have to pay to see the movie. The whole thing is right there.

My wife *really* wanted to see this, last night.

It's funny, the phrase sucks donkey balls gets thrown around so much in today's society, that one almost forgets that there really is some content that can't be adequately described, in any other way.

Wow. Just horrendous. Fortunately, also funny enough - and not intentionally, either - that at least it comes in a scant notch higher on the entertaining-scale than, say, the 16mm out-the-windshield footage that high-school driver-ed simulators used to synch up to.

I guess what I mean to say is that I didn't like it.

Agreed 1000%.
Unfortunately the whole thing just felt like a mess to me.
It fell flat at every beat, and the action was nothing we haven't seen done before (and better, mind you).

Oddly enough my expectations weren't high going into it... and somehow I was still disappointed.

I remember how annoyed some Greek people were, by 300.

Clash ought to just about be good for a declaration of war.

Terrible, campy movie. It is well known that some of Greek Mithology stories don't translate very well to the big screen or to today's storytelling standards, but the plot goes from ridiculous to laughable. I can only describe this as the Macdonalds equivalent for the epic movie genre.

SPOILERS AHEAD

First, for most of its historical, or, shall I say, Mythological accuracy, it is well known that it is important to leave the outdated facts in order to make this story more believable. There's only so much you can live by on suspension of disbelief.

So basically a God that created man, whose brother can wipe out an entire army batllion only by showing up, needs to "Release the Kraken" for fear purposes?

A bunch of guys show up saying they are great hunters. And so, they join the party. There you go. The party is made up of generic, military men that die during the journey. Big dramatic music during their deaths. Very well. Who were they, again? Did I really care? Nope.

Funny stuff: The Hero and his party travel in search of the Witches for days. Very well. Nice wide shots in the forest of them, in full gear, going on their epic journey/ but wait, what's that following them? Oh, I see, is the semi-God girl, in her simple hot dress and sandals, following them for days. I don't know, it just felt hilarious.

EDIT- And then there's the Gollum-like Betrayed husband character, an unbeatable beast that on the verge of destroying Perseus, runs away because he got himself a small wound. And I liked his timming, waiting at the door for Perseus to come out to do the dramatic stabbing scene. Hah, Perseus, I give you something more terrible than your loved one's Death- a death by cliche!

EDIT AGAIN- One more thing: Perseus line of thinking: "I'm a man, I fight like a man! Sh*t, things are getting though, what do I do? Well, screw it, I'm a semi-god I might as well use the help I got from...Wait, wasn't I trying to stop this guy? Ah, forget it, I'm here to kick ass, I'll think later."

Maybe I'm nitpicking, but I just felt completely disconnected with the film. It felt like a B Movie with A movie production values.

You all assumed the risk with clear vision. :)

(And as far as mass-produced fast food goes, McDonald's is far from the quality bottom.)
