We're excited to share links to the "City of Lakes" main feature, a combination of live event and scripted production shot over 9 days in Udaipur, India, entirely on DSLRs:

You can also check out the trailer & read details about this production on our blog: http://www.pacificpicturesblog.net

A series of behind the scenes docs on the making of this film will be coming soon to http://www.Cinevate.com.

We're also anticipating Exposure Room's new "Featured Filmmaker" series coming mid-May, which is celebrating its inaugural launch with our film "City of Lakes." Exposure Room will continue selecting members and their films to be showcased on a dedicated & customizable web page that can include extras like behind the scenes image galleries and video, cast & crew commentary tracks, deleted scenes, integrated iPhone & iPad support, detailed filmmaker bios and more. In other words, an online special edition DVD for your film. We've never seen anything like it and we're excited to see it in action.

Thanks for watching!
-Kevin

What can I say. Outstanding, beautiful. Amazing. Sent shivers down my spine.

Kevin, you portrayed this, the indian culture, the relationship in the most beautiful way possible. That was the best thing I have watched this year on any format.

Thanks, Rakesh. Glad you enjoyed the trailer.

Those are kind words, Noel. Thanks for the compliments.

Manray, yes, we got a chance to screen the film (in 1080p) on the big screen at the Palms Hotel Brenden theater during NAB in Las Vegas. The theater capacity was about 200, & using the Canon WUX10 projector, the film looked pretty amazing.

Thanks for watching everyone.

Best,
-K

hold on, I need to pick my jaw up off the floor..

That was spectacular! I've only seen the trailer right now, and will be watching the feature as soon as I hit send on this reply.

Can't wait to see some behind-the-scenes stuff!

Amazing work.

Finally had a chance to watch the feature. One question...
WHY KEVIN? WHY? Not that I ever want to do wedding videos but now there is absolutely no way I would even consider it!!!!

Dude sooooooo freaking epic! Briliant job brother, to you and your very talented cast and crew.

Stand outs for me:
Direction
Cinematography
Editing
Color Grading
The boat man and the young boy
Coreography (although I hate bollywood movies in general)
Music (also again, although I hate bollywood movies)
The brilliant and absolutely perfectly executed use of the genre (even though, and I just can't stress enough, how I hate bollywood movies)

EPIC!!!!!!!!!

100% Cosigning this!

EPIC!!!!!!!!!

LOL…man can you please tell us how you REALLY feel?

Anyways @Kevin…I’ll quote the term “EPIC” above. I’ve been waiting over a month to see the final movie. Well done. Great job on the audio also. One of my favorite parts actually was when the girl started singing and all the choreography involved there and at the end also. But loved the opening aerial view….the boat man (who I understand is an accomplished actor in India) and those shots of the bride getting ready. Some other scenes that stand out for me are those scenes in the road where people were dancing in sync hitting sticks etc. I don’t know what your budget was like but when you put all of those shots together it came off like a big budget movie. They looked like they were having so much fun that it makes me want to go to India and crash some weddings…lol.

Thanks so much CDMI & Erik.

Rakesh, "why"? What started as a short term money-making venture shooting documentaries in a cinematic way has turned into full blown short film production at a profit, and done so on our terms. It's a lot of freedom I don't take for granted. I've also learned a lot and all of the 'documentary' conventions I've been exposing myself to have really improved my screenwriting and storytelling skills (a byproduct, I would've never guessed). Thanks so much for the kind words again, I'm really glad you enjoyed the film.

Hey Ian, thanks for waiting and for taking the time to post your thoughts. I'm glad you enjoyed the musical numbers (they can be cliche, we tried to mitigate that as much as we could) and the festival scene. That was a crazy night of shooting. It certainly adds to the piece.

Cheers,
-K

I think I understand what he's saying, because my reaction after doing one wedding video and accompanying music video was "never again".

No one has ever seen anything like what you've done with City, and the blending of narrative and documentary storytelling are only a very small part of what makes this film so special. It is a perfect storm piece of work - nothing less. I actually teared-up as I finally realized the full scope of the story. That takes one hell of a wedding video.

Thnx for insight Kevin; of course the "why?" was just a facetious "why?" (I'm sure you knew that but just incase :) )
CoL sets such a high standard even without the narrative parts, but with the narrative weaved in, it's just scary good man!
Ok that's it, I'll stop acting like a groupie now LOL

Stalker. :cheesy:

Just wanted to post a quick update with some more behind the scenes material on the making of our film, available at http://exposureroom.com/cityoflakes.

Exposure Room is introducing an all new featured filmmaker series, inaugurated by "City of Lakes," which is an online feature suite kind of like a special edition DVD. Be sure to check out the BTS photos, videos and commentaries.

Enjoy.

Kevin, I want to congratulate you and your crew on such a fantastic and innovative genre of filmmaking. It looks beautiful, and I can only hope to produce the same quality of work as you have achieved with the 7D. Again, amazing work.
