citizens here and abroad

Re: citizens here and abroad

hey ml - thanks thanks! i'm psyched it's getting such a good response. you might even see it on MTV2 sometime in the near future. (i'll post any scheduling info if happens)

1) yeah, I shot full-frame with the regular lens and then cropped it. so far i prefer to work this way cause it gives you a little more latitude in case there's a framing mistake, but i'm starting to get more interested in the idea of an adapter

2) i guess it must have been digital, but i don't know exactly what kind of projector it was. it was at the egyptian theatre on hollywood blvd

3) we had five sections of 8ft track, so it was only 40ft, but maybe the panning back and forth made it seem longer. initially i wanted to shoot a bunch of different track shots and composite them together, but the framing and the dolly speed is a little hard to match on a quick, low-budget shoot

thanks again! i'm glad you enjoyed it. i'm looking forward to posting more work soon.

Re: citizens here and abroad

just thought i'd share the news: Appearances is playing in the Hawaii International Film Festival this weekend (It's entered in a few others too, mostly Bay Area stuff).

You might be able to catch it on The Dive (Fuse TV) this Saturday at 7 - they opened the show with it last week and it sounds like they'll play it again.

Much more stuff in the works; I'm nearly done cutting some quick video from my recent vacation in Italy, so will post a link in the next week or so.

Re: citizens here and abroad

i love that spot. funny, someone else mentioned the other day that they saw the same similarity. i wanted to get the same effect with the drawing, but without blurring out the rest of the piece.

that timetrack technique is pretty rad, if a little overplayed now. funny though, we got the same kinda frozen-motion / camera-moving look by just having the band stand still :)

Re: citizens here and abroad

totaly.

the cool thing about that spot was that it was using the time slow differently then what we are used to...letting the shutter hang on them, and leting it blur the people moving around.

cool stuff...yeah, you have a similer slow vibe...good stuff man.
