CitiDisk instead of P2

Search is your friend.

I have yet to hear one favorable comment about the CitiDisk.

I recommend the FS-100 as the only available direct to disk alternative at the moment. Soon we should see the Cineporter and that will provide another viable option (we hope).

Thanks. Yeah, just trying to not spend $2400 on P2's and $1500 on the P2 Store, ya'know?

*** Just looked up the FS-100. What does this quote mean: "[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]The FS-100 records all 720/24p in pull down mode, 720/24pN (native) mode unavailable." Is that a BAD thing? Am I losing something during recording on the FS-100 that I wouldn't on the P2 card?

Thanks!

I don't think the description on eBay is accurate -- it is what Shining Technology claims it to be, but that does not mirror what the device delivers today. AFAIK the Citidisk HD doesn't actually support recording in MXF format yet.

Have a look at the "Known Issues" HERE.

Currently, the FS 100 does not support 720/24pNative or pn acquisition.

According to Focus Enhancements, that will change with a new firmware release.

You can record 24pn to a p2 card now.

I don't think that Focus Enhancements is promising recording in PN mode. What they are promising is automatic pulldown (i.e. the removal of redundant frames) so that what gets recorded is identical to what you would get if you could record PN through the DV port.
