Cinevate Receives Ontario Premiere's Catalyst Award!

Yesterday I was honoured to accept the Premier's Catalyst Award in the category for "Start Up Company with the Best Innovation" on behalf of Cinevate. This was presented by the Honourable Premiere of Ontario, (Dalton McGuinty) and the Honourable Minister of Research and Innovation, John Wilkinson. To say that we were humbled to be recognized is reinforced by the fact that I accepted the award surrounded by emminent doctors and researchers in the arts, humanities, medicine and biotechnology.

A special thanks goes out to Dennis Austin from the Confederation College film school who not only nominated Cinevate for this award, but also spent a great deal of time submitting the nomination package last year for consideration. To be honest, being as busy as we are, we never would have known about the award without the College's recommendation. Those who've been around dvxuser for a few years may recall that the Brevis35 and subsequently, Cinevate, had its roots right here on this forum. To demonstrate that the Canon 5D MkII is indeed capable of being a decent point and shoot in the hands of a rank amateur and senior citizen, I present some snapshots, most taken by my 67 year old father Steve Wood. I believe he's never taken a digital picture in his life :-) We'll included a few more nice pics from the professionals here when we get them.

Congrats to you Dennis and the whole Cinevate team!

Btw, is the award a snow globe (2nd last pic)? Clearly they didn't have the Cinevate team designing it.

I have one of the original Brevis models (rev1?) and am still blown away by it.

A big congratulations to you and your team Dennis, you've really come a long way in a short time.

VERY nice, Dennis! And congrats to all of you at Cinevate!

Thanks for all of your kind words gentlemen :-) The Premiere in his speech described innovators/researchers as "restless" people. For the first time I think I can use one word that describes Cinevate ... and truly that word is restless. We're looking forward to the future as we continue to grow and introduce new products in the quest for maximum production value from minimal dollars :-)

Congrats Dennis. You guys have been doing phenomenal work with all of the new products you've been bringing out. Well deserved. Now if only you'd set up shop in Toronto... Thunder Bay is so damn far...

Kudos, Dennis. There's no doubt you guys are very inventive. Being a Canadian ex-pat myself, I feel a tinge of pride that such an innovative company sprung up in the Great White North!
