Cinemorph Anamorphic-ish Filter

Hey there,

Have you tested this with the 20mm pancake lens on either the GH1 or AF100? Would I even be able to use one of these adapters on a lens like that? I know that vignetting starts being introduced when using wider lenses, but I was hoping to 2x crop factor on the four thirds sensor would 'chop' this off.

I'm looking at buying an AF100 next week, along with the 20mm lens - i'd also like to get one of these adapters as long as I could use it with my new lens.

Quite a bit of vignetting on the Pana 20 1.7, probably not the best use of this lens/ filter combo. I do like it a lot with Nikon 50 1.4/ Nikon 35/2 and Nikon 85/1.8 . Vignetting is somewhat hidden by a 2.35 crop. I think the small size of the iris on Lumix lenses doesn't work well with the filter.I also had to use two step rings (46-52, 52-58), so that might be an issue. That being said please excuse the hand held, too much coffee look: here is a clip (w/ 20 1.7) with the filter vertically and horizonally oriented. I really believe that this product, if not over done, can add a bit to a final output, and could be fun with some of the new ($5)LED flashlights in the background, got to hold myself back from the CSI Miami look (anamor-flair on everything) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r0VEyD_-uhU

Cinemorph Filter

Hello there. My first time to post here, but was interested in this product.

Will there be any chances for a filter for 37mm (mostly in digital video camera form)?

Can't wait to check this out.

Vidatlantic - Great product, I'm watching to see how it develops. You say that lenses vignette at the wider end, 50mm being the limit on full frame. You also said somewhere that you're working on some sort of filter for wider lenses at the moment. Just a thought, but the vignette is caused just by the bokeh element of the filter, correct? Am I right in saying the flare part of the element can be used on any lens regardless of how wide? Hoping you do succeed with getting this working at the wide end with the bokeh, but if not then why not make the bokeh element removable so we can just slip it in and out if we have to go between wide and normal focal lengths, or provide just the flare element for wider lenses. At the wide end DOF is much larger anyway so bokeh shape may not jump out as being incorrect. I'd probably sacrifice the correct bokeh look to simply have the flare and no vignetting.

You are correct about the wider lenses not even needing any sort of noticable bokeh morphing. We are working on a simple streak & flare filter for all lenses since the good filters range from $300 to $4k.

And we are working on a CineMorph system for wider lenses in the 28mm to 37mm range, but it will be dependent on a matte box type filter holder. Nothing too big, but like you said it might have elements that slide in and out. Thanks for your interest!

Here is some new CineMorph Filter footage from the desert last week at NAB.

Sounds good, thanks for the update. Will the filter holder be proprietary or will the new filters slot into an existing system?

We'd be going the route of a 4x4 filter as well as another version that could possible be dropped into the Cokin holders. All still in the works...

It'll be a matter of time, but it's mainly dependent on the amount of interest there is in other types of filter like the Cokin system or a 4x4. Right now the rotating filter frame style works well universally as best as possible but we also know its not for everyones system. We also still want to nail down a method/system that will cover a wider range of focal lengths and sensor sizes. I dont want to say when, but it'll be a few weeks to months before anything new comes along with this.

It would be great if this is anamorphic front adapter. I've owned a set of K35 aspherical so they flare a lot, now I just need a front anamorphic adapter.
