You don't have to have camera design experience to be a success. Jared Jannard and Nick Woodman are proof of that. But you do have to have either enormous luck (good luck with that) or excellent management skills.
Leadership which defines the culture is key. You can see it, hear it, feel it, and perhaps most important, vibe it. From a charming small local restaurant (compare to a chain), to the Apple store (compare to the Microsoft store), there's a vibe, an energy, which reflects the leadership. I noticed a shift in energy at Whole Foods after the Amazon acquisition. I asked a long time employee (more like a friend now) what changed and they said things relating to higher stress and less fun, motivations shifting from having the best products to help people to a focus on making money.
Business 101 requires profit, however when corporate profit becomes a psychopathically ruthless machine for power, it's not healthy for the employees or for society at large. People know this instinctively, they vibe for Apple products more so than Microsoft, as Apple still cares (at least slightly) more about making good products for people, vs. e.g. Microsoft with a more profit driven business model. Microsoft's product designs lean toward Cinemartin's (complex and ugly) and Apple is closer to ARRI or Leica (simple and elegant).
What's missing from big business is a connection to what people really need and want. Compassion, empathy, and a focus on truly helping others vs. a cold anonymous (functionally) psychopathic drive for power (disguised as profit).
Regarding "Panic in Level 4", a single (AGCT) base pair coding error driving extreme behavior would not be something that everyone has a little of: that's an on/off switch. Either one has it, or they don't (I don't think this is anyway related to nail biters). We can make a general statement about heavy metals and brain inflammation causing a wide variety of cognitive issues: schizophrenia, compulsive disorders, dementia, bipolar disorders, etc. I've seen Jekyll & Hyde behavioral changes in alcoholics first hand, where they went from being a happy fun drunk to turning very dark moments after eating gluten. Lightbulb moment: brain inflammation.
There's an interesting movement of so-called "autists" growing worldwide. If one can imagine normal intelligence as a circle, autism appears to radically reshape the circle, preserving the area with bulges and spikes into less used areas of normal consciousness. This allows them to see things normal people don't see, and because the area is preserved, there are deficits in other areas of intelligence, notably common sense and people skills. In the extreme cases, we see Rainman kinds of ability and behavior. What's really interesting is that the folks behind putting mercury, aluminum and other so-called "adjuvants" into vaccines (knowing full well what it does to the brain) are being exposed by a kind of truth army (the "autists") they themselves created. The story would make a great movie, yet here it is, playing out in real-time on Planet Earth- I think they call it "The Great Awakening" or something, not sure as I try to stay away from conspiracy theories
On that note, would be hilarious to see a review by Camera Conspiracies of the Fran8K haha:
For those who are anxious or quick to anger, especially over (ultimately) silly internet debates, look into brain inflammation as a possible root cause. In addition to dietary changes (e.g. going gluten free, avoiding poultry etc.), to get mercury, aluminum, and fluoride out of your body and brain: alpha lipoic acid, magnesium malate, boron, and when working with an MD, DMSA (in combination). I spoke to Wendy a few years ago and she's pretty much on point with her products: https://myersdetox.com/ . Also lots more free info with a bit of research online (using foods as well vs. supplements only).
NorBro- I ran a new "character reduction algorithm" on my brain did it work? And wow 87K posts! Good luck with catching up- you guys are out of my league haha (also great point about the Z-Cam- dig their energy, vibe, and looks like a fantastic little camera! James: imagine a full frame Z-cam with your color science + EF mount and DPAF!!).
