Cinema mode 24P mixed with 60P questions

I have a panasonic TM700 camcorder that I used for shooting footage in the Southwest USA in 2010. Love this camcorder and I thought it did a great job:

Planning another trip in 2012, and I want to up my game. I recently purchased the Gh2 with these lenses: 20mm, 14-140mm and 7-14mm . I also plan to have the 100-300mm as well. The TM700 lens in 35mm terms is 35-420mm and shoots 1080P 60 at 24mbps. All shots will be stabilized on a tripod, slider, or crane. I will use my Nikon D90 for timelapse.

Edited footage will be out put for Vimeo and Blu-Ray.

The TM700 footage mixes well with almost anything, but I'm having trouble deciding which mode to use on the GH2. I want to get some opinions and tips here, before I go out and shoot test footage.

I first considered Cinema Mode. I did some brief handheld slow panning, and playing the raw footage back on my PS3, the footage looks very unsmooth, and I noticed some strange flickering in some areas. Using Manual Focus, AE lock, Auto WB, 160 ISO, and shutter priority set to 1/50. Class 10 card. The smoothness may be just a problem with the PS3 not keeping up with the bit rate, but the flickering is very annoying. The shot was panning toward a tripod, and the area where the black legs were reflecting bright sunlight flicker, and outside, panning across grass does the same. I didn't notice this in 60i mode. Do I have a defective GH2 , or just messed up settings?

Any other settings tips or suggestions for further testing are appreciated. Maybe if my ultimate goal is output to Blu-Ray maybe 60i on the GH2 is a good option, but thete is a significant lowering of the bit rate. Does the hack provide a 1080 60P mode?
