Other: CineAlta Full Frame 36x24mm Camera event on September 6th

Well i bought the a7sii yesterday, so it would only make sense for a new one to get announced nice and sneakily today

Is it just me, or is the Venice a bit underwhelming? Maybe it's just my expectations, but I feel like Sony missed the opportunity to do something new. From just what's out there, I think the Venice is a nice camera with a nice build, but it's basically a souped up F5/55 with a FF sensor.... but without the global shutter or HFR. I guess the tiered pricing makes sense for FF, but if they remove functionality that's available on even the F5/55, it's a step back in my book. I guess they haven't set everything in stone yet, we'll see. The short looked nice, I wonder how much of it is camera and how much is post. It's strange to have the F5/55, and the F65, and now the Venice all concurrently. It's not like they're all specialty cameras, each with their own market... they pretty much overlap, so the Venice is just confusing to me. It's nothing new in principle. The 15 stops DR is nice, but it's pretty par for the course today, it doesn't blow my socks off, my expectation was a next gen sensor that could hit usable 16. The only thing really new about it is that it's FF, and maybe new color straight out of the box. The Venice seems nicely done but it's confusing to me, I don't understand where it fits because they're taking functionality away that the F series already has, and it's a rolling shutter without even the option of mechanical, and the F series already has the option of XOCN. It would've been nice to hear about a 16 stop DR sensor with dual native ISO, even if it's "just" 4k. I get the anamorphic, but it's just not new. The 8 ND is nice but still not anything new, couldn't they have the option for the electronic variable ND? They call it a flagship, but I don't feel like it dethroned the F65, or even the F55 for that matter. The Venice looks like a well done camera, but to me it's just neither here nor there in the context of their line up.
