C100: Church Video with C100

Thought I'd share this video I did of my church with the C100. The goal was to approach the church, which is a rather plain looking modern church, and try to get what shots I could to make it look interesting.

I used Wide DR mostly at ISOs around 320-850 (with Noise Reduction set to 3), aside from the first two night shots at ISO 6400 (I think I set noise reduction to 7 for those shots). Graded with Magic Bullet Looks and some with Colorista as well. Lenses used were the Canon 35mm f/1.4L and Tokina 11-16 f/2.8. Stabilization with the Kessler Stealth Slider and Glidecam HD4000. I turned off all of the church lights and lit things with an Arri 650, 2 Lowel Pro 250s, a Lowel Tota, 3 500 watt work lights, and a few LED lights (LEDs mainly for the outdoor shots). Comments and constructive criticism welcome.

I love the way you lit the shots, particularly the statues. Also the cinematography was very good with great slider and glidecam moves. Top job!

Did you add flare and glow to parts of it?

Thanks!

Did you add flare and glow to parts of it?
Yeah. I used anamorphic flare, haze flare, shutter streak, and star filter on various shots in Magic Bullet Looks. The star filter effect I found only works well with specific metal reflections, so the chalice shot had some good reflections in the original shot that made the star filter work well. Also, the shot of the book which has a lot of flare in it was all in camera from the lights; I tried adding extra flare in post, but found it had more than enough to start with, so I actually added some contrast to decrease the flare.

It was my first time using Magic Bullets Looks; I've been using Colorista for a few months now, and color correction in Premiere before that. Looks is a cool program.

As I just replied to your post on DVinfo, "I got the All-Terrain Outrigger Feet and Kessler Flat Mount Adapter (which you need to mount a head to the slider); I always use a Manfrotto 701 Head on the slider. I used to always have the all terrain legs on, but found it made the unit unnecessarily bulky and heavy when not needed (such as for tripod mounted slides), so now I only use it when on rough terrain.

For awhile I was going back and forth between getting the two foot or three foot version, and I'm glad I went with the two foot version. I was using a Konova Slider before the Stealth and never liked it; too wobbly, plus no drag control."
