Chroma key test footage - Nano vs. AVCCAM

That was really a great tutorial. Even I, who has never operated a keyer before understood what you were doing. Good job, nice job of paying it forward.

Best,

Jan

I finally got around to watching it :) Wow, wish I had this last week when I was doing a difficult key on some special effects! :) Nevertheless, REALLY REALLY good. Thanks for putting that together.

Thanks for the kind words everyone. I'll have a more in depth tutorial up on Tuesday. Thanks again for watching.

Hey october, just finished watching and... Man... Never thought so much would go into getting so clean a key with footage that I thought was quite well shot. I'm going to watch this again and again because although I am able to follow what you are doing, I don't completely understand it to the level where I believe I could replicate this on my own footage.

thank you very much!

Well, i definitely will be getting some practice. Just ordered one of those 8x16 collapsible screens from BHphotovideo. Very exciting!

I think so! I already have a good idea what to do from practice and being around them, but yeah, any tips are always appreciated. I'm speaking for the general dvxuser as well so, if you have time, do it!

The keying tutorial was fantastic - I would love to see a lighting tutorial. After lurking for a couple months, I finally registered just to reply in this thread.

Due to limitations of space in my house, whenever i do greenscreen work there, i'll be limited to placing my coollight 4 banks to the left and right of the screen lighting it from across as well as providing some type of side/back lighting of my subjects.

I frequently light Green backgrounds from the sides. You need to have some space in order to optimize light placement. I can get mine lighting to work with shots as wide (or tall) as cowboy framing.

Yeah, im very excited to get more into this green green stuff.

I've picked up the 8x16 collapsible screen and for the price it's quite good if properly lit, not too reflective and easy enough to setup.

Want to pick up a smaller 5x7 or 6x7, but there are a few options and am waiting for some input from the boards. Then the trick will be finding what the heck to put in the background to replace the green screen so i can run some tests :)

Well, for the time being I'm sure they will help me learn, and it's really all I can afford. Definitely interested to see what you come up with though.
