C100: Checking used camera condition on C100?

Well since I'm actually going to buy a new one but I don't want to open a new topic...

Checking new camera condition on C100? I'll only be for about a week in the US and I'd rather find about any defects while being there.

Thanks!

Going BH Photo?.. Afraid there's not much you can do as no returns accepted on the c100. If you have a problem you will have to deal with Canon USA, unfortunately...

man, I would really like to buy used to save some money but the cam body is such a sophisticated piece of equipment compared to lights, mics, even lenses...how could you ever be sure what you were getting unless you personally knew the seller and could vouch for their character/treatment of the cam? Seems like you would never know of there was something in the cam just waiting to fail.

I'm starting to doubt buying used from B&H, just bought a used A7s ii and it had the IBIS malfunction straight out of the box so I have no idea what they actually check when they get these, or maybe it just slipped through their QC process. Now I'm playing the waiting game to send it back and get a replacement.

Is there another friendlier alternative than BH? I'm buying from there because:

1. It's BH.
2. They allow me to split credit card payment.
3. They don't charge taxes.

On the product page they state a no returns policy as well.
As far as I know no retailer allows returns on the c100. My guess is because they're such popular production cameras, people are purchasing them for shoots and returning them. The chances of getting a DOA camera out of the box are very slim. If you want to take a shot at having them open up your camera/power it up before you purchase it I would give Adorama a try. They are smaller and more personal than BH, so the sales people have a bit more time than those at BH and you may convince them to do so. Once you walk away with your C100 you are pretty much SOL in regards to returns, except you will have a one year warranty directly with Canon, which may or may not be an issue if you don't live in the states (not sure really)...

That seems crazy. . .if you got a defective new cam they seriously wouldn't take it back? I get the policy for people buying/returning, but if the thing is actually broken?

From BH Customer Service:

If an item such as the C100 is defecctive we can swap it out within the first 30 days. Afterwards it would fall under the Canon USA warranty.
