Cheap monitor...can I make my own?

Would it be possible to make my own starting with a replacement laptop lvds screen.(1024 x 600 resolution, and only 60 bucks) Just need to power it and find a way to go from Hdmi out to Lvds in ...and then make a frame for it. Is this possible ?

good GOD man, why whould you go through all the hassle, when there are acceptable (and probably better than DIY) consumer HDMI HDTVs that will get you buy for $200 or so?

You need a controller PCB to start+ lots of others stuff, even then you will have to see what latency lag you have.

Might be cheaper and less stressful to buy one. If very small budget look at the Lilliput 668GL-70NP/H/Y - 7" HDMI

Probably easier and cheaper to buy an existing LCD screen. I've seen some 13" HDTVs with 12V power, HDMI, Component Inputs. Check Best Buy or Walmart. Something like this. The LED ones are quite thin.
