Cheap Follow Focus found, opinions needed

That does look interesting. I also like some of the other items that seller has.

As for the follow focus. I would contact the seller and see if you can get some of those zip gears that go on the lens separately. I would want some as spares for sure.

I would look at the D Focus too, fairly similar in design, but proven track record and customer service. Ive made the guy (Dave, the D in D focus) and he knows what hes talking about. Also works out cheaper, as the D focus is in dollars.

Dfocus is on a massive backlog since they couldn't keep up with demand so I went with the IndiFOCUSmini instead. I didn't want to get this one off ebay and find it didn't work very well and Ive heard great things about the mini.

Some things I notice about it:

Obviously no marking disc, so you would need to make one.

But for me, Both the gear for the lens, as well as the one on the actual follow focus itself is rather thin. This could create a problem using a zoom lens where the lens barrel actually moves. Obviously you wont be zooming with a lens like that while focusing, but who wants to loosen the follow focus every shot everytime you chance your focal length.

I have no experience with this follow focus listed, but those are just my observations off hand.

D_Focus is really great for the $$. Very little backlash, big marking disc, standard accessory connector. When I'm shooting alone, I clip those metal spring-paperclips on the disc and they work perfectly as focus stops, too.
