Cheap audio set up if you have a mic...

I have a mic.

What is the cheapest audio set up for my T2i while using the new AGC disable hack (y adapter with ipod tone)?

It seems that each set up I'm using I get alot of static/noise. Even if I just plugged the y-adapter in with nothing plugged into that I got just noise. Is this normal?

If I have a Mic (XLR output) what do I need to go into my 2XMono to Stereo Y-adapter?

Here's a link to a video explaining why some mics don't work with the y adapter hack and how to fix it.

But if you've got a mic with an XLR output you'll have to get an adapter to convert the XLR to a mini-plug - which is tricky because the XLR has three wires and 1/8" mini connectors for the T2i only have two wires. It can be done but you have to know what you're doing.

You may be better off looking for a mixer. Even with everything done right, the audio from these cameras is poor. That's why we use dual systems.

The new Zoom H1 is only $100 and does a great job.

Probably you need something like this (see pic). IN any case read first what you are doing and get proper knowledge. Great book is: AUDIO Postproduction for FILM and Video (JAY ROSE) from which the pic comes from (hope they will not mind :))
