I'm actually surprised. I thought he'd get his way. It seems like he was getting a lot of attention, which would be publicity for 2.5 Men ... or so they'd say.

Surprised, but not sad. Any word on if the show is cancelled indefinitely now?

The beeping's gotten very faint. Basically waiting for someone to happen by and trip over the power cord.

It's okay. The valuable stage space can be used for something else.

I've largely been bypassing the whole Charlie Sheen media frenzy. But I happen to watch one of his streamed live podcasts he's done in the last couple of days. I got a very uncanny feeling that a lot of what he was doing (at least on the podcast) was acting and performance.

Maybe he is tweaked out on drugs and losing control, but maybe he's putting on a show - the new era of youtube and direct connection to your audience - Sheen is exploiting that and grabbing daily headlines. It's erratic crazy behavior, and the public is just eating it up.

Maybe its both - he's totally whacked out on drugs, and he believes he's putting on a great performance? Though, I wasn't convinced.

Weird conflicted feelings here.

It's Charlie Sheen as Andy Kaufmann and Chuck Lorre as Jerry Lawler. Although I'm not sure Lorre is in on the joke.

The thing Charlie didn't understand is everybody has a breaking point... and Lorre, etc. have F-U money. Sheen SHOULD have F-U money... but he's been blowing it. Yeah, he was the star of the show, but does anybody remember how Home Improvement died? In that case Tim Allen was like Lorre... and while they were all riding a cash cow, he didn't need that $ anyway.

Lorre has a track record of repeatable success... without the public headaches.

A guy with F-U money doesn't have to negotiate with a terrorist... which is what Charlie was quickly evolving into. Let's say he got his way and the show kept going... what then? Anybody that embraces the word, "violence"... and acts out in violent ways... isn't going to stay in the presence of F-U money for long.

Frankly I found 2.5 virtually unwatchable... Sheen or not. Those same writers could make any other sitcom work with the same anti-subtle-humor.

If Charlie spent every dollar he's made until today, he'd still die a rich man from residuals alone. 2 and a Half Men will run in syndication until our sun goes supernova.

It appears to me that Mr Sheen has quit his boot licking days. In this land of the blind, the one eyed man will have it poked out.

Caution these scenes of sex and violence may contain a program, viewer discretion is advised.

Can they not pay him for this for "breech of contract" or something, or is he GUARANTEED that money?

Doubtful. I don't think the network, as mighty as it is, is gonna want to take on SAG. Besides, what he'll make is chump change compared to what the network will get from syndication. To give you an idea what he'll earn, Jerry Seinfeld is rumored to make 60 million a year on Seinfeld residuals.

But he was co-creator an co-writer, as well as the star. How much Does Jason Alexander make? :)

I don't think there are grounds to claim Sheen violated his contract. Certainly haven't heard of any. The "no being a coked-up jerk" clause isn't something usually inserted into performers' contracts...

...although defaming the studio and/or its personnel might be actionable. Except that he didn't do that until Lorre/etc had already made the first move by suspending production.

I'm sure Sheen will make significantly more than Alexander. He was already a star when he went on the show, which means his initial contract was probably pretty good. And it probably got sweeter over the years. Not Jerry Seinfeld money, but if he makes even a quarter of that he'll be fine.
