Changing the "N-word" in Huck Finn to "Robot"

Maybe instead we should fire all of the morons and half-wits who want to ban the book. This campaign is beyond scary.

Sorry, I loved this skit, but aren't they seriously collecting money to sell altered copies of Huck Finn? I have a feeling they might have some legal issues in their near future.

Not to be the negative nancy.

Ok, great, now we have to start a campaign to maintain the integrity of females named, "Nancy"..... where does it all end?.....

My favorite quote about the actual campaign was from DL Hughley, who said changing the n-word to slave "...is not a promotion!"

I like Larry Wilmore's take on The Daily Show... something to the effect of "The n-word is an insult, slave is just a job description."

It would be cooler if they changed the n-word to Jedi.

"Jedis would come miles to hear Jim tell about it, and he was more looked up to than any Jedi in that country. Strange Jedis would stand with their mouths open and look him all over, same as if he was a wonder. Jedis is always talking about witches in the dark by the kitchen fire; but whenever one was talking and letting on to know all about such things, Jim would happen in and say, "Hm! What you know 'bout witches?" and that Jedi was corked up and had to take a back seat.

Trying to separate a contextual word used in a historical context... from the history behind it... is too much to ask of the general public.

There will end up being two versions of that book, or three, or none.

Word up Jedi ! :)

A negative Nancy...that's a first ! atleast for me

I like my Twain unaltered. The man was never in the politically correct camp anyway. Literature should always be taught in context anyway and students should learn not to be offended by the past as it was just because present culture is different.

I don't think anyone here thinks otherwise. I had an argument with someone who thought Martin Scorsese was racist because his characters say racist things, which is absurd. If he's making films about Italian-American gangsters, it would be highly unrealistic to portray them as models of political correctness. This is political correctness taken to a ridiculous extreme. We shouldn't hide from our history, as it makes it more likely that we'll repeat it.

Jedi, please!...
