CES 2016 catch all -

[video=youtube;C5UiAaeHdgg] ... 4K Sony A6100 with 36mp BSI sensor and IBIS ?
The previous rumors had it as either 24 or 36.

An official announcement at either the CES or CP+.

A Russian online retailer posted a new Sony camera page but without specs. I linked to it on a "new cameras for 2016", just in case anyone is interested.

Zeiss is coming out with lenses for smartphones, which seems like a smart move, given the number of units in people's hands.

(That's where I first found the info and Zeiss's own site seems to be down anyway)

So what's the feeling here, friends? Has the "consumer" segment upped the game and we can expect the 2016 "pro-sumer" to similarly up the game without much of a price spike? Btw., as a matter of classification, do we call the FS7 a pro-sumer or pro?

If Panny ZS 100 can be considered an RX100 MKIV clone, then it's a $250 chop right away ($950 vs. $700). To me, D5 is a huge disappointment in terms of video, since it will require an external monitor/recorder (no tilt screen, 3-min internal limit). D500 may be a jack-of-all-trades but not specifically geared for video either. Of course, they're supposed to have awesome auto focus and a phenomenal low light performance (D5 can go up to over 3,000,000 ISO), making them quite suitable for the ENG, run&gun and wedding jobs.

Overall, I think this has been a push but not a major one, nothing in the A7SII/RII category.

But, as they say, the year is still young.

FS7 is definitely pro.

My feeling is meh. The new consumer updates are mostly incremental. Then again in most ways professional or prosumer devices meet my needs. I'm just waiting for 20__ to be the Year of Global Shutter.

So we have under $10K cams that are considered fully pro? Holy Moly. I remember the days not too long ago when you couldn't touch anything below $25K and call it pro.

What really is "pro" these days? So many want something for nothing and everything even for the smallest jobs. A lot of networks are pay to play and the I-Phone can shoot 240 fps. It is a wasteland in some respects. Pro to me just means you know what you are doing which often means having better equipment...

Are these HDR tv's 10bit?
Not sure about every model but many are indeed.

BTW, Samsung's CES has been about SSD's, TV's and connected fridges ... but no camera talk in the least.

Late edit : Samsung actually showed a 360 degree camera that's sort of its prelude to its entrance into the VR market. Nikon has shown a similar 360 design too.
