CD Apollo

just wondering if anone had any thoughts about Convergent Design's new Apollo, it looks very interesting. My question is does it have all the functionality of the 7Q+(fs700 and raw options etc...) as well as live switching ? Is there any functionality for basic fading (like 3 second preset with a "fade" button to press and then the next cut will fade. Just a thought)?

It looks very very interesting. CD always brings interesting stuff to the table.

Just saw this http://www.newsshooter.com/2015/10/...-portable-multi-camera-live-switcherrecorder/

Looks like 7q and 7q+ can add the functionallity with firmware, but apollo doesn't necessarily have 7Q(+) functionality?...

Apollo is designed specifically for the multi-stream recording and live switching world. It can record four HD video signals simultaneously, as well as a fifth channel of either a quad-split view or a live-switch between the four inputs. In early 2016 Apollo will be able to record two 4K video signals.

Apollo does not accept RAW data signals. This is a different type of use.

The Apollo Option for the Odyssey7Q and Odyssey7Q+ adds all of the functionality of Apollo. Switch to Apollo mode just as one currently switches from HD Apple ProRes recording to FS RAW recording. There will be a firmware update in December which will include the Apollo Option in demo mode (blue bars through the image). To activate the Apollo Option, purchase it using the Convergent Design website and then use the provided key code on the Odyssey. The Apollo Option is $1795 to purchase or $149/day to rent.

In its initial iteration Apollo will be cuts only, but we are looking into ways to expand its functionality over time.

Looks awesome Mitch. Will there be a way to purchase the 7Q+ with both the apollo and raw functions enabled straight from the distributor in future? this may seem like a weird request-but for all of us in the educational world, who work with direct to distributor purchase orders (schools using credit cards is getting harder and harder) this would be neccesarry.

We have a way of facilitating this with your dealer. They can make the request to us on your behalf and we can handhold the sale together with them.

Love ya work Mitch,
I and my students appreciate this level of support. I will reference this with my dealer when you guys have launched.
