It's the last day of September... No FW as of yet

Also, will we see 4k @ 50/60fps or is that in the next firmware expected sometime before the end of October?

Cheers

Never received an email from Amber

The joke is wearing thin
Amber is away from the office for now, but I am unaware of any obligation we issued to email you personally with such an update.

However I did post a notice of it here at DVXUSER about a week or so ago, and it was posted elsewhere as well. We had to push back a few weeks and it will be available soon.

As for 4K@50p/60p, I am again unaware of any claims we have made in any regard to such. We (meaning generally me, as I'm the guy who usually writes the content) have stated that the next firmware will include 4K ProRes recording and playback. Please do not read into that any additional claims or promises. We will include what we can when we can.

Ha-Ha...

Got an email saying end of September. I even believed it because it was not on a forum but an OFFICIAL EMAIL! Planned shoots, promised clients.
Got NO email saying delayed. 4K shoots start mid next week. Must rent for a week now and pay a substantial amount because you are marketing %$&/%/(

You guys suck! Period.

I never received an email with the information that the update will be delayed. Did you also announced it on twitter or facebook because I can´t find any informations there. If not this is disappointing because there was so much news, videos, articles and the press release about this great update which will come THIS MONTH (September). Well...please don´t announce such great things if you can´t deliver.

They wait the Atomos Shogun on the market probably for release this update.

I didn't really like this kind of marketing, we bought something really nice on paper and we don't have any serious information about what we excpected when we bought it. Probably my first and last time I deal with CD, the playback record on production is painfull, work when they want, glitch black screen, need to wait to have the good playback. Alone it's lost time, but with customer behind it's not serious, and don't let me know that it's my unit because we have 2 7Q with 2 raw codec and it's the same on both system and with different battery plate.

I already own an Atomos Ninja Blade, Never, I never had a problem with, and it cost 1 512SSD CD in comparison.

I missed the updated timeline also Mitch (4K Prores), only have the September promised date on file.
Once again.
Please don't give dates anymore, it just gives you and us grief!

Looking forward to it arriving.

Among other places, it was announced here on DVXUSER.

But you're all correct, we should have emailed it to our registered users. That's my fault.

You shouldn't have announced it with a date. Or at all really. I understand why you did, but the end result, again, was just harm to your reputation.

CD announced the "September" update less than an hour before the official FS7 announcement. Seems to me like they're playing silly marketing games alongside a slack development team.

Mitch mentioned, that they demonstrated a running 4K ProRes recording mode during the IBC 2014.
And they got Apple's certification, so they passed several tests.

So Mitch might be right, the Release date Sep 29 was set and then, development crushed the release because they tried to add another function that failed. No silly marketing games, but still a need to fully prioritize Firmware development, avoiding that type of conflicts and more quality management in the pipeline and not at the end. From my perspective, that reason is even worse.

It's good that Sony introduced the FS7 and that are more 4K recording devices arriving in market. More pressure to deliver the promisses. And the price drop is a good sign of that.

They mentioned every update with a date. The later the more vague but it was always a date (September, a few weeks). But they missed all dates.

I am not sure about that. It could be just panic that if the FS700 dies sooner or later the 7Q will loose dramatically also. A lot of people will think about FS7 and I guess that the majority is happy with 10bit internal codec and 1080/180fps and won't go for the XDCA-FS7. No XDCA-FS7 no 7Q.

Is the XDCA-FS7 = FS7? Majority is happy with the FS7?

Then you say no FS7 = no 7Q?

I'm highly confused by your post. Seems to contradict.

No the XDCA is an addon to allow raw recording i think. Google the XDCA-FS7 and you will see.

The camera is PFX or PSX-FS7 or something like that.

Ah-ha. You might be right. Possibly FS700 4K Raw to 4K Compressed messed up the whole shebang.

Er. I think you're confusing the O7Q with an FS700 Accessory. There's plenty of other cameras the O7Q is a desirable accessory for.
