Casual Use

I know that there's nothing stopping you from using the Red One to record birthdays, but it would just too much data at 2540p60. And why downsample it to 480i, 480p, 720p, 1080i or even 1080p when you have the Red One? I would probably record more video on casual use than on film production. But I really don't know why I would want so high resolution video for recording vacations and birthdays, but I guess it's no problem archiving if I have one of these.

Buy a Sony Handycam or a Canon pocket still camera with 640x480 movie capability.

Jim

After all the issues with Sony, Jim has the professionalism to be pushing their cameras for them.

But I want memories that are future proof! The Red One is the right camera for recording things like this. I guess I'll come up with someway of using the Red One for it.

And also I do have a Canon pocket camera with 640x480 movie capability, and I have trouble archiving even that with only 14GBs of memory.

Barry's idea of just using 1080p sounds good though. Use the REDCODE or H.264 and burn it to Blu-Ray for archiving.

Go to the link below to see a huge sample pic of a model. It is not as good as the Canon pic someone posted in the other thread, but the resolution looks good for a point and shoot.

You never know, some rich guy might buy a RED just to film his kids birthday. Any REDservations from Dubai yet?

That sample is pretty horrendous actually.

I wouldnt even say Dubaians.. Most likely Rappers. Every high rolling rapper I know has the most insane camera gear. They dont even know how to use it.

I heard of the LX2. High definition movie mode in a still camera.

$17,500(Red One) + $10,000(zoom lens) + $3 a minute at 4K(with LaCie's 2TB external hard drive[if I could even put it on there at that bit rate])

Not including RED FLASH and RED DRIVE recorders, RED RAIL, RED CAGE or RED GUN.
