AC90: Case/Bag Recommendation

I have a couple of Lowepro 250 Classified bags in my collection of carrying accoutrements:

The issue with the AC90 is that the mic holder sits high when attached but its fiddly to add and take off this holder just for transporting. If the AC90 can sit on the bottom of the bag, the bag does easily close. You have plenty of space around it to store other gear. I use some of the supplied padded dividers but I prefer to use freestanding neoprene pouches or even bubble wrap that is pre-sealed into pouches.

This bag is semi-rigid so it keeps its upright shape regardless of how much or how little gear is in it.

And the top seals with a centre zip. This means that if the AC90 is sitting on other gear inside the bag you can still zip it up if you just let the mic holder protrude between the two zip grab tags - if you see what I mean. I do that all the time. In the bag typically in addition to 1 AC90 there will also be 3 TM900 camcorders, a gopro, 4 Zoom H1's, 1 Zoom H4n, a Rode NTG2, 1 or 2 Senny G3's, and other bits and pieces.

You can hook Lowepro and ThinkTank belt pouches and suchlike on the outside to carry more stuff if needs be.

The bag also has a strong wide textile strap the length of the bag on the back which can be slide over a two wheeled cart for easy and stable transport of heavy loads - you can of course strap lightstands tripods etc to such carts as well.

The bag also has a fold out rain cover which can envelope the entire bag.

Thanks gents, i loved the first bag (as I could take my macbook pro BUT then realised I dont travel with it that often. The second one sounds perfect as i would also take a tm900, h4n, rode mic etc

Ashton, I have bought the bag and its great, thanks for the recommendation

Out of curiosity, how did you get all that equipment in there? I have taken out all the internal padding (is that what you did and put some on the bottom)

Cheers

Yes I've taken out all the supplied padding other than that protecting the exterior walls.

The three TM900's are each in freestanding neoprene pouches which are dirt cheap and easily available on Ebay. They all sit in the bottom. Also in the bottom are some batteries etc in a couple of little bowl shaped pads which I acquired with some other bag. Other stuff sits around the AC90 in other neoprene or bubble wrap bags - which again are easy to buy online if you don't have any left over from your own sundry purchases.

I have two of the bags, one in black and one in sepia to help me differentiate what gear is in what bag when on location.

If you have heavy loads over long distances these Calumet collapsible hand carts work great:

There are cheap versions available from stationers builders merchants and office products suppliers.

If you have hard stuff like friction arms that you don't want bumping up against more fragile gear you can slip a belt pouch such as the Think Tank Skin 75 Pop Down through one of the bags side loops and use that instead.

I do have one of those trollies already, but i was carrying around 3 aluminium cases plus monopod and tripod.. becoming a nightmare as I really dont need all the equipment

Love the bag, might get a second for sure
