cards not recognized

After a solid hour of searching these forums, I don't seem to be able to find a way to get my 16 gig cards recognized in my laptop's PCMCIA slot.
I received 2 16 gig cards and the camera yesterday. The camera has the new firmware preinstalled. I installed the software from the enclosed CD that came with the camera even though the card wasn't being recognized, hoping that would solve the problem, with no success.
I formatted the cards in the camera before instering it in my laptop's slot, still with no success. One DVXuser suggested to make sure the cards were write protected, so I tried both protected and not with no success. One guy said the CD that comes with the camera is not good for the 16 gig cards, but i found no updated software on panny's site.
When I insert the card, absolutely nothing happens, not even a 'new hardware found' dialog box.
I'm at a loss of other things to try and my eyesight is beginning to blurrrrr...
anyone have any ideas?
Thanks!
Mike

1. Uninstall the P2 drivers from the system.
2. Check for devices with a yellow or red icon next to them in Device Manager, your previous attempts to get the cards recognized may have installed a dummy device driver or left the device in a disabled state.
3. Install the latest version of the P2 drivers, following the installation steps exactly. Do not insert the P2 cards until prompted to do so.

Thanks to you both, the problem's solved.
I didnt have footage on the card, so, I put a few shots on it and then did as THoff suggested as well. Not sure if one or both suggestions did the trick, but all is well now.

Me and my blurrry vision thank you both a ton!
