Cardboard Warfare

That was just freaking great! Expected much less in the way of production value when you mentioned cardboard guns, but you guys delivered. Nice credits at the end... very fitting...

Gonna have to check it out later 'cuz I can't access youtube at the office...From GA?

Check out my trailer when you get a chance Brett www.battle-movie.com

ha if u watch the behind the scenes at the end of the video we had the tank on top of the truck and we could drive it around... but right as we got on location the engine blew up... so we had the worst time picking that thing up and carrying it.. it was terrible..

Wow, great job! I wasn't expecting that level of production either but I was VERY impressed.

I saw your notes on rotoscoping, did you use AE CS5? The only reason I say is I just rotoscoped a whole bunch of scenes with it and was ABSOLUTELY amazed at how well the algorithms track now what you care about, and how easy it is to step through the frames. Granted I did abut 120 frames, it took less than a half hour and this was a black soldier moving across a black window.

Again, AWESOME job.

Bummer with the tank breaking down, I could see it already rolling over the hill. :) the minigun more than made up for it though, I loved the pacing of the tank introduction and then the minigun guy coming out, that worked out great. nice job on the post effects! it's looking like a youtube hit already!

thanks guys! we had no idea it would get that big already within a day of 40,000 hits. so it looks like we may have to bring back the tank for round 2.

ha, nope all the rotoscoping was done by hand with cs4 one frame at a time.

Well then, let me be the first to tell you, upgrade to AE CS5! :) It will really save a lot of time if you plan on doing a lot of rotoscoping. When I saw the videos on YouTube before I got it, I was like, no way, I'm sure what they are doing is like THE perfect condition and just happens to work well. Boy was I happy to be wrong.

All the footage that I am rotoscoping is from the 7D as well. I'm sure I'll run into harder stuff in the future, but I'm a lot more comfortable not needing to greenscreen a bunch of stuff now.

I'll post a link when we release our short so you can see how well it worked.

Congrats, man! This thing is epic as ... well, you know!

I actually saw this on the front page of The Daily What (www.thedailywh.at). I thought it was going to be "meh" when I clicked play. I freaking loved it! I've been passing it around all morning.

Very entertaining and well done. A friend of mine emailed me this link and I made sure to pass it along the office today.
