Capturing to Mac laptop

I just got my HVX and a new Macbook pro. SD cards have not arrived yet I would love to capture direct to FCP. I am set up for 720P 24 frame. I have a camera image in my capture window. I cannot get the camera to go into record. It has an SD card light flashing. Can I capture without a card? How do I do this? FCP won't record unless it has a time code. I presume that I have to get the camera to go into record mode using firewire.

I have not had the time to go into depth with the manual and sure could use a hand. Thanks
 
Set your device control to 'non controlable device', set the right capture preset and hit capture now. Should be fine...
