Capturing Help!!

I'm having major issues capturing my video to Final Cut Express. I shot the video in 24p and it looks fine on the camera but when I go to capture it there are tons of fuzzy lines and there seems as though there is a delay. I'm using the standard dv-ntsc setup. What am I doing wrong?

A little more info would help us help you. what spec comp? what DVX model? What tapes are you using etc. Might want to check our firewire cable...

You're seeing it because Final Cut Express doesn't support 24p, so the pulldown is not removed from the footage, and those lines are interlace artifacts. It's normal.

The way to NOT see those lines is to use an editing application which does support 24p and can remove the pulldown. Then, you will see the actual, progressive, 23.976 fps frames.

For more info on pulldown, see:

I haven't shot a lot of 24p with my DVX mainly because I do a lot of skate/wakeboard stuff and I prefer the 60i look. So are you saying If I was to shoot a small segment in 24p, I couldn't use it on the same timeline as my other footage without the interlacing? Sorry if this has been discussed a million times..
