Capturing 24p direct to harddrive issues

Hey guys I'm sure this has probably been covered before but i didn't have any luck searching so sorry if this is repetitive question but here goes:

Basically i am doing a few interviews and decided to capture directly to harddrive (Final Cut Pro) and am now having some issues with what seems to be scan lines in my footage. The DVX is set to record at 24p (not 24pA). What should the Log and Capture settings be in FCP for capturing?

Also second part of question is i want to know if i have screwed myself up. Basically i was told by a colleague in order to properly capture 24p footage straight to HDD i needed to set up a custom capture workflow that consisted is DV NTSC 48khz and editing that preset to 24 frames per second. Was this a mistake? And if so is there anyway to fix that without re-recording? Again sorry if this is an old question answered a million times already

If you are using the regular 24p setting, it is meant to be captured and edited at 29.97 without any worry of removing the pull-down. So just set your capture to basic DV NTSC 48kHz, and edit as the same.

So i don't actually have to worry about the footage setting being 24p and editing on a 24p timebase? this confuses me much :-)

Nope. Both 24p flavors (24p and 24pA) are laid to tape at 29.97. The difference is in the pull-down cadence. With 24p, the 3:2 cadence is intended to be captured and edited at 29.97, just like regular video. The 24pA cadence, 2:3:3:2, is designed to have the pull-down removed for editing at 23.976. Read this for more detailed explanation.
