Capture question

Hi All,

I'm shooting several years now with the Panasonic AG-DVX100A Camera. Several shootings has been on National Television, but almost always as CAMJO shots..

When I did some editing it was always in Avid DV with no 25P (pal) just 50I.
To save the DVX heads I want now buy a DV Deck, but...

If I record in 25P.., how can I get 25P in for example Vegas useing the DSR-11 as play (capture) device.
I mean, is the 25P hidden within the 50I signal ??

Thanks,

Erik

I may be wrong here but I didn't think it mattered what you used to play back, I mean the DVX is only acting as a playback whether it's in 25, 24p, 30 or 60.

Erik,
Welcome to DVXuser.

Yes the DSR-11 will work fine.

It's still always a PAL DV signal on the tape . the camera shoots progressive and then stores the information in the interlaced PAL stream. Just capture and edit normally from any DV deck. (And much eiasier than having ot worry about all the pulldoan junk with 24p in NTSC..)

P.S. Happy Birthday.

The best way to think about is imagine shooting a photo with a $4000 digital camera and using a $20 card reader to transfer the pics - Once it's digital it wont be altered. Just 1s and 0s. The camera used to record does all the groovy work.

I want to make sure I understand because I've heard a few different things (I was actually talking to a few friends the yesterday about this...)
Once you've got your stuff onto the DV tape with the DVX does it matter what kind of deck you use for capture? Ie will you get the same result from a $200 consumer cam as from a pany deck?
Do you lose timecode, etc?
(I am in the NTSC world so would these answers change for someone in the PAL world?)
Thanks!

The topic of capturign on another deck has been asked to death.

Is it MiniDV? Yes? well guess what? It works with MiniDV!
