Capture problem with ppcs3 and canom xh a1

When i try to capture from xh a1 to premier pro 3.2 in hdv,
everything works fine except ..... No scenes can be seen in the capture window.. I get a blue picture and the words ..playing on video hardware ..in six languages... No problems in sd. Or any other format am i doing something wrong
in the xh a1 HDV settings or what? I can see the scenes been captured on the cam veiwfinder but not on the monitor capture window.

You're not doing anything wrong. HD footage will not display a preview in Premiere Pro. You'll need to either capture the entire tape or set your "in" and "out" points prior to capture.

Hi

Google for HDVsplit and give it a try. It's a free capture tool that gives you preview, scene splitting and other options. I use it for all my captures. Works with 50i and 25f and probably NTSC also. I live in PAL country so I can't verify that.

Nice app. Do you know of any app to convert the .m2v to .mpeg so there viewable? Or is it fine to just change the extension? Thanks

.m2v is the same thing as mpeg. Any program that reads mpg will read m2v.

The problem I find regarding m2v is that explorer and Adobe Bridge don't show previews for quick reference as they do with mpeg and avi. Any suggestions regarding this or is it fine to change extensions from m2v to mpeg? Thanks
