Something else: Are you sure absolutely nothing has changed? Did you install any new software recently? Did you disconnect your deck or Mojo to transport it somewhere or anything like that? Generally Avid doesn't just break for no reason.
Yeah nothing has changed in software installation except for Magic Bullet but that was installed today anyway. It reads the tape and the timecode but just doesn't get the video for some reason. I will try to go with just the deck right now. And no, my coworker is gone for the day but she said she tried while I was at lunch and her system period was just messing up so she just shut down or something. She is unmotivated like that. LOL. But Im going to keep trying. If anyone knows anything, please help me with this. I dont have a pressing job ATM but I will by monday for sure.
Ok just tried without the mojo. Avid says "No Deck" and cant find it, though windows picks it up perfectly, I can even control the deck with Windows Movie Maker, but Windows Movie maker isn't picking up any video at all. Any further help with this? Im gonna take her deck and bring it over to this station.
Sorry for so many posts.... But I actually got it to capture a different tape. Its one of the same tapes I tried before, the second tape that I tried with just the deck plugged in, it captured in windows movie maker. Went to avid, it still didn't see the deck, said "No Deck" but I took it off deck control and pressed play and was able to see the video the click capture and get it. Then since that worked, I tried that second deck with the mojo and still having the same problems. It can connect, and control and everything. Just was giving me the non drop frame tape error thing and not displaying any video.
This is terrible, it just feels like I should break everything in this room.
So when you go into Deck Configuration from the Settings tab, what do you see? Do you see one block that says "Firewire on OHCI" and the another block that has the name of the deck? Tell me what that screen looks like.
Go to the help file and search for Configuring Decks. You need to get the firewire off of Avid DNA and over to OHCI. Then when you reconnect your Mojo you'll need to switch it back to Avid DNA. The help file explains this better that I can.
I thought your goal was to unconnect the Mojo and connect the deck up directly to test the capture that way. If that's not what you're trying to do then you lost me.
At any rate, the help file will explain everything about Deck Configuration and then you'll be able to change it to whatever you're needing.
No, my goal really, is to get it working fully with the mojo. Everything like it used to be. Im sorry for being so buggy for this help. Its just that this is the best place for me to turn. I appreciate everything you done so far and please, if you ever need some graphic design work or music production, let me know and Ill do something for ya free. Seriously, I WANT TO. www.337studios.com to contact me quickly.
But yeah as far as how I want it, I want it the way it was with the Mojo and deck all connected and the deck configuration is right. Thats the way it is supposed to be, and always was. RIGHT?
OK. I'm back on track with you now. Of course the goal is to get you system up and running, but to do that I've got to figure out where the problem is coming from. The standard troubleshooting things haven't solved the problem yet, so now I'm trying to eliminate options. So, if we disconnect Mojo and we can successfully capture with just a deck then that means the problem is with Mojo, or something Mojo related. See what I'm trying to get at here? If we remove Mojo from the equation and you still get that error message, then that's one more thing off my checklist of possible problems.
So, what you say is correct, that the Firewire on Avid DNA is what you need selected with Mojo, but for troubleshooting purposes it would be good to try it without Mojo.
Just remembered I recently installed .NET Framework as well as Direct X 9.0c to get Vegas on the computer (which I uninstalled) but .NET Framework and Direct X 9.0c is still on there. I will try a system restore to almost a week ago and see what happens. Think that might be the cause of it?
Ok, doing the system restore then checking with that first. I got a Math Exam tonight so if that doesn't work, I gotta study and pick back up in the morning with this problem. I sware man I truley thank you for every step you are taking with me and would like to return the favors to you. Im sure you might need something, sometime. Ill report back after the Sy Res.
If you read this prior to doing the system restore PLEASE STOP!!!! System restore will only make trying to figure out what's wrong more difficult. Installing and uninstalling always has the potential to mess with important system files. Grab you Avid 4.3 installer and reinstall Avid's software (no need to uninstall first) and then try capturing again.
Dang sorry. Plus I dont have access to the installer. If I ask the IT person to get it they will want to know why and come try to fix the problem herself and trust me, she wouldn't do any better than me.
Well, since the restore happened anyway we might as well see where we stand. Try capturing and see what happens.
With the info about installing and uninstalling Vegas I really think reinstalling Avid would be a good thing to do. Maybe you could just fast talk the IT person "Um, yeah, I need you to come reinstall Avid because I had to boost the NTs on my machine and now I need Avid to recognize it."
Yeah maybe I can go ask her that. Sounds like that might work. It will have to wait until tomorrow though. Damn math test!!!!! But yeah the restore didn't even work. Damn Windows. I wish we had Macs at work so bad. I love FCP on my powerbook, though the powerbook is giving me damn problems with the firewire card so who knows. LOL
