Why do you capture 24p in a 29.97 timeline?
What is the purpose of having an option for a 24p timeline if you don't use it for 24p?

Don't double post.

24p is meant to be edited in 29.98. This way it can mix with 60i material and be easily delivered for broadcast.

24pA is meant to be edited in a 23.976 timeline for native 24frames. Filmout, web delivery, etc benefit from this. It can also be made into a 24p DVD saving you 20% of space.

No just kidding. Well, the thing with 24p is that it looks like the motion of film while still being able to be edited, mixed with and output to NTSC for no problems. It helps immensely when you have to give the product to someone who knows nothing about 24pA content, like the guy at my public access station. You can hand someone a DVD (or VHS if your that uncool) and say "here is your final product. it will work in any DVD player that supports NTSC." With 24pA, its a little different. It doesnt work on all dvd players. Originally tho I think it was cause no NLEs supported 24pA.
