Can't use "hidden" Frame Rates

Hello guys,

I've just got Barry's HVX Book. I use a HPX171E. When I try to use "hidden" frame rates nothing is happening. I copied the files (from the book's CD) to my SD card, loaded in the camera and everything went well. Changing the scene files of the camera I can see the name of the files (SCENE 2 FPS, SCENE 4FPS... ) but if I go to the SCENE FILE MENU it stills appearing DEFAULT in the frame rate option. I tried to record and it stills recording on 25 fps (even if the scene file is stetted to 2 FPS).

The same happens if i open the SCENE FILES txt files in my computer, change manaully the numer in the files, save, load to the camera... and nothing. Always in DEFAULT option.

Even if I load the Scene File "LT NEO" (supposed to have a different frame rate), it stills recording as Default.

The camera is setted to 720P/25PN.

Make sure you're using the right scene files from the right directory; you might not be able to use the HPX170 scene files in an HPX171, for example.

Other than that... I don't know. You have to be in 720p mode, and FILM CAM mode, for it to work. And if you try to change the frame rate manually it will leap to DEFAULT (or 60, don't remember right off hand which one it jumps to). If you're on a 171 and trying to use a frame rate faster than 50, it'll max out at 50.

But it should be working...

yep, I copied the right folder "HPX171E Scene Files", and as I told you the scene files works very well, but the frame rate doesn't change. The camera is in 720P25PN mode and also FILMCAM mode.

Do you have an idea what could be happening?

Barry, I did some tests and got these results:

In all files inside the folder "HPX171E Scene Files" of the CD says:

Ver 1.00-00
AG-HPX171E
SYSTEM FREQ:59.94Hz

I found strange the 59.94Hz info (as I am using the HPX171). So, I loaded the factory Scene files of the Camera, copied them to the SD Card and open in my computer.

The file came with:

Ver 1.00-00
AG-HPX171E
SYSTEM FREQ:50Hz

And them it was possible to use the "hidden" frame rates.

So, I changed the SYSTEM FREQ:59.94Hz to SYSTEM FREQ:50Hz in all your Scene Files but for my surprise the camera didn't read them.

Do you have an Idea?
 
Well, the 171E is switchable between 60Hz and 50Hz. So if you changed your camera to 60Hz operation, the files should work. I should have mentioned that. Try setting your camera in 60Hz mode and load the scene files that way.
