Can't Log and Transfer footage?

I followed the AVCHD editing FCP 2 workflow pdf, set up my video and audio settings (1920 x 1080 Apple Pro Res), and open log and transfer. Under Open New Folder, I choosen the Folder where I moved the Private folder to, I've choosen the private folder, The folder inside that folder, down to the folder containing the mts files - but nothing shows up in the log and transfer window. Exited and restarted Final Cut many times already. What am I doing wrong? This is my first time using the HMC 150.

FCP 6.0.6
2 x 2.8 Quad Core Intel Mac Pro
2 GB RAM
 
I think you just need to choose the private folder. Dont choose the folder with just the .mts files.I use toast to tanscode but my partner uses the log and transfer. You need the info thats found in all the folders to work properly.
 
I've done that, and just tried it again - no dice.

I have toast too, went to convert and dragged the private folder over and my two test clips showed up. That at least tells me there's nothing wrong with this card or the files, i guess.

How do I convert the files in toast? Can I still set in and out points?
 
oh and quick question, can I record different formats (720 24p and 1080 60i for example) on the same card? Or should one not do that?
 
have you tried transferring your card to your hard drive first and directing log and transfer to it?

Just a thought.


yes you can record differnet foramts to the same card.
 
i had already done that. i have no idea what i'm doing wrong, this doesn't seem complicated. But no clips show up; i select the private folder and nothing.

Am i missing a step somewhere?
 
Very occasionally, Final Cut flakes out on me and refuses to talk to AVCHD rushes. Quitting it and restarting usually does the trick.

I couldn't figure it out those first two days, then after cursing the heavens I took a deep breathe and read the FCP manual, went step by step again...

Then I tried dragging the Private Folder from Finder instead of using 'Open File'. Success.

I felt pretty dumb at first, but even happier too see my footage :grin:

....now if only vegas 8 on my laptop would play nice
