Can't capture HDV 1080i60 in Final Cut Pro 6 from Canon HV20 (via G-Drive)

I have my HV20 daisy chained to a G-drive to a new Imac. I've got FCP to "VTR OK" in the log and capture window but the preview is disabled and I although I can play the tape from the log and capture window when I select "capture now" no tape is captured. I've tried many settings and only got the VTR be "Ok" using these A/V settings:

SEQ: DVC PRO 1080i60
CAPTURE: DVC PRO 1080i60
DEVICE CONTROL: DVC PRO HD FIREWIRE
PLAYBACK: (tried both digital desk top and none)

If anyone has any suggestions please let me know. Thanks!

Why do you have everything set for DVC PRO with the HV20? I'm surprised you were even able to get the camera to play back with the DVCPROHD device control. I'd start by selecting one of the HDV easy setups and if that doesn't work, connecting the camera directly to the Imac if that's possible.

Hi, I had tried all the easy HDV settings before and I couldn't even get the VTR to be ok, just said no communication with the deck or unable to initialize it. I'll try again though. Thanks!

It may be a dumb question but.....have you tried more than one FW cable? I know in many occasions just changing FW cables has worked for me.

Canon does not like other cables plugged into computer. I also use G drives. But i import via the FW 800 right to the computer's HD, then I will connect external HD after import then transfer over to external HD for workflow.
