Hello:

I have a two camera shoot coming up were i will be using both the Hvx200 and Canon Xl h1. I will be using 24p (canon 24f) sd mode. I have never used the canon xl h1 and was wondering would i be able to splice the footage together with the hvx200 and get a similar result. Between the xl h1 and hvx200 would there be a significant difference (in sd 24p-f mode) in terms of color, resolution, gamma, 24p-f image, overall image. If anyone has worked with both camorders or been in this situation please respond.

Thank you.

In SD it should work fairly well, but you would need to do some testing and try to match the camera's looks as closely as close as you can...unless you plan to spend quite a bit of time cc'ing.

For maximum quality I would recommend shooting HDV 24F and downconverting to DVCPRO 50 via MPEG Streamclip. You can shoot the HVX in this format at native 24P and they should be able to intercut reasonably well.

If you need to shoot plain vanilla DV at 24p just do some camera tweaks and try to match as best as you can.
