I just got the Canon XHG1 recently (one week ago). I recorded it and everything seems fine. I export it to premiere for capture and when I save the file to view it. the video seems to be jaggy. Do I have the export the movie? Is this suppose to be like this in a raw clip? Is their something wrong with the camera or am I doing something wrong in the editing program.

Here is a frame shot of what I am talking about, when playing it does not look that bad but you get the jaggy edges on the side.

Here is some images..

FOR SOME REASON I EXPORTED THE SCREEN SHOT AND WHEN I PUT IT TO UPLOAD TO PHOTOBUCKET THE PICTURE IS NOT JAGGY ANYMORE. ITS NORMAL.

And besides the Jaggy Images sometimes I get this type:

That screenshot looks like a bad tape or dirty heads. Even new cameras sometimes require a quick run through with a head cleaner.

Jagged lines...most likely interlacing, from shooting in 60i. You could shoot in one of the progressive modes(30p,24p), or de-interlace your footage within your editor. But those lines are normal when viewing your footage on your monitor, and will not be visible when viewed on a television.

Tell us a bit more about what mode you shot in so we can better understand what might be going on.

couple of questions;

1) What version of premiere are you importing to?
2) What setting did you record in? HDV 60i, 30F, or 24F?
3) What import settings (project settings) are you using?
3a) Are you using adobes canon project settings? LINK

Yea, that's definitely due to a dirty camera head and/or tape. Buy a head cleaning tape, run it through and you should be good. There's a chance the footage was actually recorded like that to the tape, in which case you're screw. But if you're lucky, the bad head is simply misreading the tape and in that case recapturing the footage after cleaning the head should take care of the problem.

I will run a head cleaner. But I still wondering about the jaggy images. I am seeing a way so I can show you guys what I am talking about.

I was shooting in 60i for the basketball game. How would I de-interlance in the editor?I looked at the raw video it has jaggy.

I am importing to Adobe Premiere Pro 1.5. I made a custom project setting of 59.95 fps and 1080i. I am not using adobe project setting because it is not in 60i.
