Canon XH-A1 XLR MIC only

Hi friends,

I got an external XLR mic for my camera but dont know how to get it to work. I plugged it in Channel 1 but the canon internal mic is the only thing working. The way that im testing is that i have headphones plugged in and i snap my fingers near the mic to hear the incoming sound. How to i get channel 1 to work only , not the mic that came with the cam.

Any help is much appreciated ,

You would need to first go into the menus under audio and turn on or off XLR as the source. Hope that helps.
 
I have not used the XHA1 (I have the XLH1) but they should be similar enough. There should be a set of switches close to the XLR sockets - they should allow you some control (such as selecting channels, turning the phantom power on etc).
 
sweet! thanks guys , i will try those options tonight. i have a feeling that its something in the menu area. i already tried the switches on the side.
