I have read multiple forums with people having issues with shooting in Hi-def on their A1 and not being able to Log and Capture the footage in final cut studio 1. From reading on and on it looks like the best thing to do is upgrade to Final cut studio 2. Well if i do that im going to want to buy a new computer. Is anyone running a regular I-MAC with 4gb of ram and a 256mb video card? If so how is the speed when editing in Hi-def. I'm debating to see if Apple comes out with a I-MAC with a 512mb video card. Can anyone tell me what they are using and if it is up to par. I dont want to spend alot of money, but i dont want to cut myself short either. Right now its between the IMAC, and the power MAC.

A1 works just fine with FCS1. Keep looking in the forums, you'll see the answers. I had issues the moment I hooked it up but it only took a button or two to get things right. Look in the forums more, it works just fine.

An a current imac with 4gb of ram will kill hdv footage, you won't have a problem with that and fcs2.

I don't have the FC Studio 2 yet, and can import with my A1 (on a powerbook with 1.5 gig ram btw).

The thing is however is that you have to upgrade to FCP 5.1.4 to get the proper hd codecs for the 24f.

I think the auto download thing covers that, or maybe you have to pay for it i forget.

The only problem I have experienced is that I can't get FCP to export back into the A1. I haven't ever really needed it in my workflow, so since the year plus that i've had the camera, I'm not sure if there was ever a fix for it.
