Canon Xh A1 + After Effects - Problem

For two years now ive been having this problem, Ive just discovered forums and thought that its a great place to ask my question. I own a canon xh a1 and export using hdv split. Everytime i upload and edit using after effects, the image looks squished vertically.

I uploaded an image of the footage on after effects (left)
and an image of how it should look like(right).

When i export screen shot off after effects its squished and every time i export using 16:9 anamorphic 1.33 its still squished. Is this normal?

I use adobe premiere and it works perfectly fine for me with no problems. After effects is another story.

In AE, under the monitor window, there's an aspect ratio button. I think it's near the view button. Clicking that will display your footage correctly in AE. Export settings should be 1440x1080 with a par of 1.33, or 1920x1080 with square pixels. Give that a try.

Yeah that worked perfectly, thanks!
What rendering settings do you use for premiere and after effects if you dont mind asking for best quality? (this question is open to everyone)

Welcome to the forum galangstar!
I use the following settings for a total lossless export/render:

Composition > add to render queue > render settings:best settings and output module:lossless

I also have the same question regarding best export in CS4 for web based presentation. Vimeo recommends H.264. Once I had tried this I noticed a considerable decrease in detail. It looked like I had switched from HD to SD. Video was shot in 24p.

Your best bet for web files is to use a dedicated encoder, like Sorenson Squeeze, Quicktime Pro, or TMPGenc. And despite what Vimeo recommends, I've personally seen the best results uploading a .wmv file.
